It is always necessary to work on website with good pr related to your niche.

It's difficult to try to keep up with Google and SEO as a whole. I just try to write content that is helpful and not worry (that) much about Panda, Penguin.

you are saying right. now it's very important to work on site's content. good and quality basis content is very important beacause google like quality basis content. to increase visitors on site, it's important to make quality basis backlinks which would be useful to increase visibility in search engine.

To get safe result you should do safe work mean you should do link building on quality sites to get quality back links for your site and your ranking will increase if you use fresh content and make quality back links.
