Why do people play lots of cards during Diwali?
 

Goddess Parvati (wife of Lord Shiva) was playing a game of dice with him. In fact, it was the divine couple who invented the game of dice. Encouraged by her victory, the goddess Devi Parvati announced that whoever gambled on the night of Diwali would earn money throughout the year.
