Is an Oriental Rug a Persian Rug?
Most people use the terms Persian rugs and Oriental rugs to mean similar things. However, the two types of rugs are different. Oriental and Persian refer to the areas in the middle east where the rugs originated from.
Traditionally, all carpets designed in the Middle East and Asian countries such as India, China, Egypt, Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan were oriental. On the other hand, vintage Persian rugs originated from Iran, also known as Persia. Therefore, all Persian rugs are classified as oriental, but only oriental rugs from Iran are considered Persian. authenticpersianrugsonline.blogspot.com/2022/04/is-oriental-rug-persian-rug.html |
