Linking in non-standard ways

Hi

I want to link to a website only because of the benefits that this will provide to my visitors. The problem is
that the website we're talking about (a pr8, pretty well-known in its bussiness domain) is also linking to me for quite a while and I don't want google to see this as a reciprocal link... How do I do it? afaik, google follows javascript links so this is out of discussion. Does it follow redirects? Which of them?

Thanks
