RAID is a storage technology that brings together several hard generate drive elements into a sensible device. Information is allocated across the pushes in one of several ways called RAID levels based on what level of redundancy as well as is needed. In Oct 1986, the IBM S/38 declared "checksum". Checksum was an execution of RAID-5. The execution was in the os and was software only and had not less than 10% expense.
