I usually buy domains that are about to expire, at a very cheap price, if they had not been penalized by Google, and the content is still available either in the site itself or in archive org, rebuild the site, find blog posters, then I keep the site for about 5 to 6 months, then I go to any of my preferred flipping sites, and sell it for any a great profit. The reason to keep it for that long is to show to the potential buyers that the sites is already making money.
