To be honest link-building strategies are becoming redundant.

Google is policing the web now and they don't want websites to have unnatural like profiles.

So link-builders begin to build link profiles that seem natural. the problem being that that is just a quick fix and that google will catch on quick to all the so-called 'link strategies'

The best you can hope for is to create link-bait material (stuff people will naturally want to link to) establish yourself as an expert/authority in your niche and then hit your site with strong social signals.

The problem is that all the people who use to spam the search engines gained great rankings and gained natural links because of that.

Now the spam has gone they are just left with big natural link profiles and still high rankings.

Its hard if not impossible for the little-guy to get an audience.
