E.g. if you use google adwords, you can create different landing pages that the customer will then arrive at when clicking on a certain keyword. The landing pages are pages that you ideally have optimised and made as perfect as possible (and relevant to the keyword).
Think of it as a kind of entry area for a potential customer.
