Could you help me with my SEO query?

I have been working with a client who is the owner of three businesses and all are somewhat similar to each other. Now, my client wants to get a website designed in a manner in which the homepage will comprise of all the three types of businesses, having links to all three domains, symbolizing the three businesses. However, Google does not favor websites with such design and the website may have to give penalties if already launched. Can anyone suggest a solution about how to gain the confidence of the client regarding this matter? Taking this idea further may not work well but the client must be convinced at first.
