What would anyone do differently on a local seo campaign from a national search?

If you are talking about local promotional campaigns and selling products locally, then in that case instead of using a universal SEO approach and campaign, using some Geo-specific advertising mechanisms will generate better outcomes. For example, in addition to using SEO to improve your ranks, make use of PPC but choose local markets to have better chances of selling products to your customers. You can also choose local offline marketing methods such as newspaper advertisements to have sales.
