You should have both. But i think that forum or social links will matter more and more through next few years

I think forum links are better than article links because in article site ,administrator first check your article then approve it that is not in case of forum....

Both are essential, but if you compare i prefer forum links, it's better than article links.

Both are good for increasing traffic, but in article submission you need a quality content for getting backlinks, i think forum is easy way to get backlink.

Forum links are the best. With the help of forums you can submit your website's link and also take part in Forum Community.

Both the way are good to promote website and getting back links and traffic for site. But in article submission your content should be unique.
