Resizing and optimizing your image is one the easiest way to decrease the size of your web page and increase load time. Images consume a lot of bandwidth which in turn impacts loading time of the webpage. Resizing your website’s images in HTML is not sufficient as it only changes the appearance not its actual size. External picture editor tools can be used to resize the image such as the Photoshop.

The speed of opening the web page is really important in all manners, To reduce page load time you should check some websites to check which part of your webpage is having the problem with loading. you can check Google's SEO tool - https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/, It will show you the improvements you should do.
