Is meta tags required ?
Need help: please let me know if I can still rank high without using meta tags in the website. Please provide, if any suggestion...

Meta tags required
Yes Meta tags is required because its effects your Google page ranking.Its decides only Google.

You might rank high (rare cases) but with meta tags, the path would be much easier. Google will itself create a snippet by picking extracts from your webpage which not necessarily be relevant to your website.
Meta tags are a vital requirement since they show up in search results. A compelling title and keyword rich description can increase your CTR. |

of course they are must be . also the description must be user friendly and not consist of only keywords and looks like spam

Meta tags are present on the site but it not seen by user, when he visit the site. It works as backend. Google gives more importance to meta tags and which can be shown in google search result. Means it improves your ranking and traffic.
