I have a customer that wants to re-post articles he has written by the local paper on his website and we are concerned about duplicate content penalties from the search engines. We are using Wordpress and he has placed the article in blockqoutes and place a disclamer that it is a reprint for the local paper that is linked to the article in the paper.

What is the best way to do this without getting nicked by the search engines?

Duplicate content is bad for your website but if you want use this content you use NOINDEX Tag.

Maybe "rel canonical" can help you.

Duplicate content acts as a hindrance for driving the traffic because it's not worthful to do the seo activities with using duplicate content because content is the king for seo activities.

Do not use duplicate content in your website or blog. It will harm your website. People always want some new and interesting knowledge but if you are using duplicate content then they will get bore with your blog and won't spend time on it. Your site will also not get a good position on Google.

Duplicate content is the content that is copy from another websites or other sources which is already available on internet. You can easily check your content about copy simply search copyscape on google then tools and websites available then easily checkout

Duplicate content is bad for your website and may be decrease the ranking of your website but if you want use this content then once spin the content with any spinner tool. I think its helpful for you.

You can advice him to use noindex attribute in his article. In that case his article wont be index so there wont be problem of any duplicate issue.

However, one or two duplicate article doesn't make any difference. There are many news site which use same articles and never get penalty.
