sitemaps are really handy for correctly indexing your website; they help search engines during the crawling process.

You could compare a sitemap to a road map for crawlers. Crawlers usually discover new pages via links (href or src). A sitemap is used to double-check their link database, allowing them to discover pages they might not otherwise have seen. As a bonus, you can provide crawlers with additional information about the URL by adding metadata.

This is especially useful for new websites or websites with a significant amount of new/updated pages.

The Sitemaps protocol allows a webmaster to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling. A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site.

Generate XML Sitemap and on your Search Console home page, select your website. In the left sidebar, click Crawl and then Sitemaps. Click the Add/Test Sitemap button in the top right. Click submit, Enter sitemap_index.xml and refresh the page.

Sitemap is list of url collection, it will easily inform the search engine to crawl and index the pages.

A sitemap is necessary for index all website pages in Google Search Result. Google quickly index our website if we submit sitemap in our website.
