What is IIS?

IIS stands for Internet Information Services. It is created by Microsoft to provide Internet-based services to ASP.NET Web applications.

IIS is basically a web server which is introduced by Microsoft. It is used to host ASP.NET application. IT will also isolate an application, so if single pool crashes it will not affect other websites.

You can check steps to restart/stop IIS Applcation pool.
