Google Removes “+” Operator from Its Search Function

Google has, without notice, removed the “+” operator from its search function. This operator serves as the verbal (or typographical) equivalent of the AND gate, where the query fetches only those results that match ALL the parameters. The same function has been available with the “” (double quote) operator, but it’s a bit cumbersome to use.

Here a screen shot of what happens when you try to use + operator. Google ignores it.

This step may have been taken with Google’s new social network in mind. Google doesn’t want its search engine confusing between Google’s + and user’s +

Google has compensated for the change by reporting that they have increased the scope of the “” operator.
