Link sculpting (or more widely known as PageRank Sculpting) is one of the on-site SEO techniques. It was used to control the flow of the links on your website by using no follow tag. Basically, you would use it to redirect the traffic. I.E. if you have 3 outgoing links from your website and you want the traffic to go on only one of them, you would place nofollow attribute on the other 2 links.

As I understand it, this technique was abused in the past and not worth using now because you would actually have more negative than positive implications.
