The choice of platform mainly depends on the apps you are planning to run online.
I know that Aspnix.com is a good choice of web host if you need both Linux and Windows hosting solutions. The prices are higher but they do not oversell and you get what you pay for.

Just make sure, whoever you pick, to do your homework. Web hosting is kinda like going on a job interview.. "its all about being at the right place at the right time." just because 50 other people may have bad experiences, doesn't mean you will.
