Discover Every Event in Cyprus

Finding Events in Cyprus: The Complete Guide for Tourists, Expats & Locals (2026)

If you've ever tried to find out what's happening in Cyprus on a given weekend, you already know the pain. There's no central hub — you're jumping between municipality websites buried in Greek, Facebook algorithms hiding events you actually want to see, nightlife-only platforms, and a dozen venue Instagram pages. It's a mess.

After living here for a while (and missing far too many things I would've loved), I started digging into what actually exists and how to navigate it. This is that guide.

Why Finding Events in Cyprus is Harder Than It Should Be

The fundamental problem is fragmentation. Cyprus has a genuinely rich events scene — concerts, food festivals, cultural exhibitions, outdoor markets, theatre, club nights — but the information is scattered across:
  • Municipal government websites (often only in Greek, rarely updated)
  • Cyproplan and Eventor (partial coverage, outdated UX)
  • RA.co (covers nightlife only)
  • Facebook Events (algorithm decides what you see)
  • Individual venue and organizer websites

The result is that locals miss 80% of what's happening around them. Tourists and expats fare even worse. Free municipal festivals sit nearly empty because nobody knew they existed.

The Best Solution I've Found: Cyprus.BZ

Cyprus.BZ is the only platform I've come across that actually aggregates events from all these sources into one place. It pulls from municipality sites, cultural venues, nightlife platforms, and more — and presents them with proper filtering by city, date, category, and price.

No registration required to browse. Works well on mobile. And crucially, it surfaces those hidden free municipal events that would otherwise die in obscurity on a government PDF.

Events by City — What to Expect

Limassol

The most cosmopolitan city in Cyprus with a year-round events calendar. Expect a serious nightlife scene, international concerts, food and wine festivals (the Wine Festival in September is unmissable), and a growing cultural district. The marina and old town host outdoor events constantly in warmer months.

Nicosia (Lefkosia)

As the capital and the only divided capital in the world, Nicosia has a unique energy. Strong on theatre, art exhibitions, business conferences, and cultural events. The old city inside the Venetian walls has a thriving café and gallery scene that regularly hosts live events.

Larnaca

Often underestimated. Larnaca has a beautiful seafront promenade (Finikoudes) that hosts outdoor events, a strong expat community that drives demand for English-language events, and one of the best Carnival celebrations on the island. Also home to regular arts and crafts markets.

Paphos

Paphos is UNESCO World Heritage territory and it shows — the events calendar leans heavily toward cultural festivals, open-air theatre at the ancient Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, and the Aphrodite Opera Festival which draws international audiences. Also strong on expat community events given the large British population.

Ayia Napa

The party capital of Cyprus and one of the top club destinations in Europe. Peak season (June–September) is relentless — international DJ residencies, beach parties, foam parties, boat parties. Off-season it quiets dramatically but the town is working hard to develop a year-round cultural calendar.

Events in Ayia Napa

Protaras

Adjacent to Ayia Napa but with a very different character — more family-oriented, calmer, and increasingly popular with tourists who want beautiful beaches (Fig Tree Bay is world-class) without the full party scene. Events here tend toward family activities, beach sports, and seasonal markets.

Events in Protaras

Paralimni

The main town of the Famagusta district and a hub for the local Cypriot community in the east. Less touristy than Ayia Napa and Protaras, which means you get more authentic local events — traditional festivals, community gatherings, local food fairs. Good spot if you want to experience Cyprus beyond the tourist layer.

Events in Paralimni

Polis

Small, relaxed, and situated near the Akamas Peninsula in the northwest. Events are fewer but tend toward outdoor and nature-focused activities — hiking events, environmental festivals, and small community gatherings. A counterpoint to the busier south coast.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Cyprus Events

Timing matters by season. Cyprus has two distinct events seasons. Summer (May–October) is dominated by outdoor events, beach parties, open-air concerts, and tourist-facing programming. Winter (November–April) shifts indoors — theatre, cultural exhibitions, gastronomy events, and local festivals like Carnival and Green Monday celebrations.

Don't ignore municipal events. Municipal governments in Cyprus run genuinely impressive free events — outdoor concerts, cultural festivals, heritage walks — but they're catastrophically bad at promotion. These consistently have the best value (free entry, authentic local culture) but the lowest visibility. Filtering specifically for free events on an aggregator is the fastest way to find them.

Check the week before, not the day before. Many events in Cyprus have short promotional windows and sell out or fill up fast, especially in Limassol and Ayia Napa during peak season. Checking 5–7 days ahead gives you time to actually plan around what's on.

Language isn't always a barrier. Touristy areas (Paphos, Ayia Napa, Protaras) run most events in English or bilingual. Nicosia and inland areas skew more Greek. Worth filtering by language if you're not a Greek speaker.

Final Word

Cyprus punches well above its weight for events given its size — it just does a terrible job of letting people know about them. The aggregation problem is real, and Cyprus.BZ is genuinely the best answer to it right now. Bookmark it, check it before any weekend, and you'll stop missing things you would have loved.

Whether you're planning a trip or have been living here for years, the events calendar is richer than most people realize.
