A sitemap tells Google which pages and files you think are important in your site, and also provides valuable information about these files. For example, when the page was last updated and any alternate language versions of the page.

A sitemap can not only help Google, but also people to find your website. It's a great way to show the hierarchy and flow of your site. As mentioned earlier, there are several tools available on the internet that can make this process pretty painless. After all, it can only help.
