AMP stands for “Accelerated Mobile Pages.” It is an Open Source Framework that was launched as a joint initiative by Google and several other technology and publishing companies. With AMP, it is possible to create simple mobile websites that load almost instantly.

Starting on February 24th, Google started to deploy AMP-compatible pages within their mobile search result page: content from publishers with AMP HTML markup pages are displayed as a carousel in the SERP, letting the user swipe through the elements and tap directly into a page.
