The Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) compares the count result (number of times a keyword is searched within a search engine) with the number of competing web pages to pinpoint which keywords are most effective for your campaign.

Keyword Effectiveness Index or KEI is a measure to find the effectiveness of keywords in the search engines. It is calculated by dividing the total number of webpages with the total number of searches for a particular keyword.

KEI (keyword effectiveness index) is one of the quickest ways to find keywords that show potential - that is, those keywords which are likely to help your site attract more traffic. It's a scaled metric, so you'll never see a KEI of more than 100.
