After the Google panda update, I don't think there is any benefits of article submission. Instead of article submission, you should focus on blogging for your own website (write meaningful content and use inter-linking strategy) and may be you can write guest post occasionally in similar niche. Hope this helps.

Article submission is an important part of SEO framework. It is necessary for every article submitted to the directories that it gets incoming link to the focus website so that at the end the purpose of search engine optimization is fulfilled. Initially for the articles to get positive feedback it must contain proper keywords so that during search on any search engine like Google it does make its appearance easily.

After the Google Panda update Article submission is not much effective to increase the ranking and traffic of a website. As far as Guest Posting(GP) is considered, instead of doing GP you should do Blog Submission.

If your have a original content only then you can get benefit of article submission otherwise, its just a waste of time.
