a canonical URL is the URL that you want visitors to see. Quite often canonical URLs were used to describe the homepage. The typical example used is that most people treat the following URLs as the same: www.example.com. example.com.

A Canonical URL is an authoritatively correct URL for a resource. Canonicalization is the process of choosing the best URL when there are several options.

https://www.example.com. It's a smart thought to pick one of those URLs as your favored (accepted) goal and utilize 301 sidetracks to send activity from alternate URLs to your favored URL. A server-side 301 divert is the most ideal approach to guarantee that clients and web indexes are coordinated to the right page.

In SEO, canonical tags are used to avoid possible content duplication problems caused due to publishing a similar content copy in different URLs.

The rel=canonical element, often called the “canonical link”, is an HTML element that helps webmasters prevent duplicate content issues. It does this by specifying the “canonical URL”, the “preferred” version of a web page. Using it well improves a site's SEO.

A Canonical URL is the URL that you need guests to see. Regularly authoritative URLs were utilized to portray the landing page. The ordinary illustration utilized is that a great many people regard the accompanying URLs as the same.

It's a good idea to pick one of those URLs as your preferred (canonical) destination, and use 301 redirects to send traffic from the other URLs to your preferred URL. A server-side 301 redirect is the best way to ensure that users and search engines are directed to the correct page.
