SEO :It is the process of increasing the visibility in search engines for a website.SEO can generate the exposure for a website and also generate the online business through website.
SEM:It is stand for Search engine Marketing and it will help in advertising your products or services with the help of search engines.SEM is the part of SEO.

SEO is search engine optimization and SEM is search engine marketing both do for that same purpose but have different methods.

What wrong my Friend, SEM is not part of SEO instead SEO is part of SEM .
SEM categorized as Paid 'PPC' and Free 'SEO' for marketing or visibility over top search results.

Both co-relates with each other where SEO works for betterment of websites in SERP on the other hand SEM is the the process of exposing a business.

Simply, if you are going for organic and free searches then SEO stands for it, however, SEM includes paid services like Adwords, Adcenter etc. Search engine marketing may be free or paid both but SEO is always free. In search engine marketing you do market your website weather it is free or through paying cash.
