What's better, blogging on your main domain or a new independent site?
Might be better to bring a blog into your main site as a subdomain or subfolder and try to generate links.

Hi,

i think both are good, if you have some blog on your domain website then you need to keep posting new content and also create some new blogs that will help to improve your website ranking.

For Commercial Website its good to create blog on the sub-domain of your main website , it will provide that link to your websites.

In my experience, it would be good if you will create on your main site and treat like a page. You can see this strategy on lot of websites like Matt Cutts, SEOMoz, etc.

Example: yoursite.com/blog

It depends upon your wish. If you create your blog as sub domain then the links from blog will be calculated as external back links while if you create a directory like structure the links from your blog will be calculated as internal links.
