What are the main functions of search engines?
Crawling , building an index, calculating relevancy and ranking and serving the results.

The main function of search engines is to bring the most relevant search to the users typing the query in the search bar.

The main purpose of using a search engine is to find information. Searching something means to enter a query into the search engine’s and the return key to see what results you will get. Two main functions of a search engine are.
1 Crawl Sites and Build Indexes 2 Provide Ranked Relevant Results Based on Queries

The main function of search engines is crawl your website, rank your website in Google Search Result and answer you question whenever you ask in Google Search.

First of all search engine use crawler also called web spider to collect the information,once search engine crawled content it indexed the content based on occurrence of the keyword phrase,storing the web content within the database search engine essential for easy searching.
