Why there is difference in backlinks?

I am new to the world of SEO. I have made a blog only. Now I could create the blog very easily, I want to learn more abou the techniques. I want to know the experiences and advices of those who are already experienced into this field. My main query are about the backlinks. As mentioned by the Google Webmaster Tool, my site has about 1000 backlinks but according to the Yahoo tool, the number of the backlinks mentioned is about 3000. I am unable to understand this difference in the number of backlinks. I wonder if Yahoo updates the backlinks often.

Well it is a pretty known phenomenon that Google doesn't show all their backlinks count accurately. This is because they do not want their competition to know these details. So don't worry about it and just continue to build quality links to see SEO results.
