What Is SEO / Search Engine Optimization?

SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” listings on search engines. All major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing have such results, where web pages and other content such as videos or local listings are shown and ranked based on what the search engine considers most relevant to users. Payment isn’t involved, as it is with paid search ads.

Yes you are absolutely right about seo. SEO is a process to improve your site's visibility on SERPs, generate more traffic, more goal conversions, more ROI.

1. Distinctive and fresh new content is always important

The content of a page is what makes it worthy of a search result position. It is what the user came to see and is thus highly important to the search engines. As such, it is essential to create good content. So what is good content? From an SEO point of view, all good content has two features. Good content must supply as per demand and must be likable.

2. Focus on Keyword

Set up of key words strategically helps in driving more traffic to a website. The focus on keyword is the most important subject of your post. The post should only include of one topic and not multiple topics. It will confuse the reader and also be penalized by Google since the post does not hold any value. By focusing on keywords the post will be more appealing not only to search engines but to the human eye also. For the best keyword search you may use softwares available in the market.

3. Set a Minimum Word Count

Setting a minimum word count is significant because Google does it count as a negative factor if itā€™s too short. Understanding Googleā€™s guidelines are necessary when creating a post and improving it the right way. Google thinks if the article is less than 300 words than it is not quality work. Any article that which has less than 300 words is not written in detail which equals to no value to the topic discuss. Google tends to ignore short length articles. So try to write articles with at least 500 words or more.

4. Include keywords in your internal links

The search engines use the words in your text link as a factor in deciding the nature of the page you are linking to. You can make use of this concept to give boost to your own article. You should use strategies for SEO linking.

Have you seen sites where you require clicking the ā€œHomeā€ link to get back to the home page? However these site proprietors are not aware that by doing this, they are improving their page for ā€œhomeā€ instead of their keyword! It is recommended that, rather than simply naming your internal link ā€˜Homeā€™, you should name it ā€œWeight Loss homeā€ or ā€œHow to play the piano homeā€ ā€“ this ensures that you improve the SEO of your main keyword.

5. External links relevance

Quantity and quality of external links make a difference significantly. While every link is like a vote and the more links your page gets the more preferred Google considers your site to be, quality beats quantity. Itā€™s much better to have four highly related links to you from other popular related websites than 40 links from unrelated low ranked sites. External links may be related to affiliate networks also.

6. Keyword in the page URL

Google pays attention to sites with keywords in their permalinks. Make sure that your blog is not set up to use session IDs in the URL. It is always much better to use detailed, easy to read and keyword-rich URLs.

7. Setting up of Meta description tag

Even though having keywords in the Meta description doesnā€™t impact rankings. It can play an important role in the sites. The description tag is the part that people will see when your page comes up in the search results, so it should be interesting and developed to attract business.

8. Multiplicity of link sources

It is better to have inward links from many unique root domains. Donā€™t get all your links from one type of source; make sure you have a healthy and balanced combination.

9. Keyword in alt text for images

Every relevant image should have an alt tag with your keywords mentioned in the tag.

10. Keyword focused core text from external links

Inbound links from other domains are crucial. Inbound links with your keyword as the anchor text are much, much better. They are highly important for SEO.
