Google is focusing more and more on Local search results. If you can add your sites URL to Google Places it can very often skip organic results altogether and is fairly simple. Adding your business to local directories also allow a nice natural way of gaining backlinks to your site. However not all directories are good. The best are both Yahoo and the SEOmoz directory, but harder to get.
