If your site consumes less resources then hostgator shared hosting is good. but if you have good traffic then they will suspend your sites whenever it crosses the limit. I don't have any idea about there VPS hosting. I host my site with them for 6 months without any problem but after that my sites got some more traffic and there hosting become worst.
