Think of the Alexa Rank as your position in a race with millions of people. The web is a very dynamic environment. The Alexa Rank is your rank in terms of traffic.
Now, pause or a minute - and a whole crowd of people may run past you. Pick up the pace again.. And you may pass a whole crowd of people… Alexa seems to update their rank at least once a day... and hence, you will see these sort of fluctuations a lit. The close to the top of Alexa's listing that you get, the less pronounces the fluctuations seem to be.
