Basically, sitemap is a file for search engine robot. Search engine robot crawls the new webpages and index new page with the help of sitemap file.

submitting sitemap through Google Webmaster can easily look from where traffic is coming, check about information crawling and indexing.its an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling.

and XML sitemap is useful for search engines only to fetch information, it is not however useful for online users. So create another site in HTML that could be used by online users.
