If one day, your traffic seems normal, and the next day there's a sharp drop-off (or possibly no traffic at all), that's a pretty good indicator of a possible penalty. https://www.welllivingshop.com/bedding/comforters/

There are certain elements which can give you indication of penalty:
- wide fluctuations/downfall in traffic - constantly decreasing backlinks - unstable ranking

if you are familiar with the webmaster tool, when you analyse daily traffic of your site you will come to know that site is penalized or not.
Signs: Backlinks are decreasing continuously. The downfall in traffic.
