This highway is about 1465 in the length and it is considered as one of the most busiest highways of the country. This highway passes through Delhi, Haryana, uttar pradesh, Bihar, jharkhand and finally the west Bengal.

A major part of NH 7 covers the North-South Corridor of NHDP and it is officially listed as running over 2,369 km (1,472 mi) from Varanasi to Kanyakumari. It is the longest national highway in India.

Currently, NH-44 is the longest highway in India. It starts from Srinagar (J&K) and ends at Kanyakumari (Tamilnadu). The total length of this highway is 3,745km. Previously this highway was known as NH-07 and it was starting from Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) and was ending at Kanyakumari (Tamilnadu).
