There are two different types of domain scraping:
1. One is crawling the web with a bot and copying all content you find, or perhaps specific content that you are looking for. In some cases, folks will look for content on a particular subject and copy (scrape) it on their own blog to get more traffic (usually the more often you post stuff, the higher Google ranks you, although there are a ton of other metrics, and duplicate content can get you in trouble fast). 2. I think the more common usage is scraping for expired domains. In other words, checking domain expirations, and snatching up the domains when they are not renewed, in the hopes of extorting someone for an inflated renewal cost. Or perhaps you just want a really cool domain name, so you keep tabs on them and snatch up a good one when it expires.
